The babaylan was a physical and spiritual healer. She was the historian, handler/protector of stories of families, their communities and generations past. She was considered to be a military strategist, diplomat and counselor to the datu; a philosopher and thinker - perceived to be a soothsayer and clairvoyant, a bridge between the gods and humanity. This lecture-workshop aims to discuss the role of babaylanes in our early history as promoters/ vehicles of love for their people, culture and nature. Reflections about babaylanismo will be done through art-making and body movement workshops. Suggested attire for the lecture-workshop: plain t-shirt and loose pants. Organized by Department of History (Histo Dept).
